In 1985, he founded Word Of Life Ministries Bible Education Center to help train up the Body of Christ as God’s mighty army; and, in 1983, he founded the New Life Centers, a rehabilitation program for drug and alcohol abusers. The New Life Centers recently celebrated their 25th anniversary and today have, with the help of Jesus Christ, delivered hundreds of men and women from the bondage of drug and alcohol addiction and other dysfunctional lifestyles.

In over 25 years of ministry and through the leading of the Holy Spirit, the Anastasi’s have developed a focus for total healing—spirit, soul, body and relationships. As a result of Word Of Life’s unique and effective prayer counseling ministry, many people have been healed of deep emotional scars caused by past hurts and rejection and now live lives that are whole and productive. Together they have also pioneered a highly successful marriage counseling ministry and conduct Marriage Conferences as well as conferences on Spiritual Warfare, Damaged Emotions & Past Hurts, Leadership Development and the Church & Israel.
Michele leads Word Of Life’s own Women Caring for Women ministry and is active in women’s leadership development. They also air a weekly television program “God Has the Answer” and he has written close to a dozen books. They have been married since 1967 and have five children and four grandchildren.

Word of Life started over 25 years ago in an old movie theater in Freeport, New York, a village on the south shore of Long Island. Gaspar Anastasi was a young, newly ordained pastor with zero experience. But the one thing he and his wife Michele did have was an unquenchable passion for Jesus that has been the earmark of Word of Life Church throughout it's history. It is a passion to see the Kingdom of God advance in our communities, our nation and in our own personal lives.

God gave Pastor Anastasi a vision that reaches beyond the church’s four walls. His vision was to go to the streets and preach to the drug addicts, prostitutes and homeless. Word Of Life Church has taken the message to the community through street rallies, tent outreaches, the New Life Centers, door-to-door and street evangelism, food and clothing bank, “God Has the Answer” television and radio broadcasts, home and hospital visits, Care Groups, Bible Education Center, Christian Academy, Global Leaders Fellowship International, our Conference Center and our outreaches to Israel.

Over the years, we’ve seen God dramatically change individuals and entire cities. When Word Of Life started, Freeport was overrun with racism, drugs and prostitution. People didn’t want to pass through the village, much less live there. The Freeport of today is a thriving village, and it can’t build homes fast enough to accommodate all the people wanting to move there. People of every race come together to worship. Drug addicts and alcoholics are set free. Families are restored. What God has done in Freeport is a miracle. What God has done through Word Of Life is definitely not church as usual!

The Embodiment of our Purpose & Vision

• To fulfill our call as God’s priesthood through a lifestyle of worship (1 Peter 2:5,9; Ephesians 2:19-22)
• To pursue His presence both as a corporate body and in our individual lives (Colossians 1:16; Philippians 3:10-14)
  
• To make ourselves available for the Holy Spirit to work through signs, wonders, and miracles (1 John 3:8; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Acts 1:8)
• To provide and maintain a healing environment through our unconditional love for each other (Galatians 5:6; Matthew 14:14)

The Bible, both the Old and New Testament, is the only infallible authority concerning God, His Word, His principles and deeds which were revealed to the writers by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. [II Tim. 3:16; II Pet. 1:21]

There is One God who is omniscient, omnipresent and omnipotent, revealed in the three distinct persons of the Trinity–God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. [Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19; I Cor. 8:6]

Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh – a fact proven by His virgin birth, sinless life, His works and words, His sacrificial atoning death on the cross, His defeat of the forces of darkness in hell, His bodily resurrection, His appearances to His disciples and His ascension to the right hand of the Father. [Luke 1:26-38; Isaiah 7:17; Hebrews 4:15; John 14:9-11; Gal.1:4; Col. 2:15; Luke 24; Col. 3:1]

Jesus Christ is Absolute Lord over all things because of what He has done. [Phil. 2:6-11; Heb. 1:4]

The only means of Salvation from eternal damnation and to the life eternal with God in Paradise is by accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior. In accepting Jesus, an individual’s human spirit is born of God by the regenerative power of the Holy Spirit. [Rom 10:9-10; Acts 4:12; John 3:3-8; II Cor. 5:17]

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is available to all believers and is freely given to all those who ask for it. [Acts 2:1-4; Luke 11:13]

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit Empowers each believer to do the works of Jesus Christ. It is further evidenced by the manifestation of spiritual gifts. [John 14:12; Acts2: 1; I Cor.12: 4-11]

The Church, as the bride of Christ, will be caught up to meet Jesus in the air at the time appointed by God the Father. [I Thess. 4:16-18; Acts 1:11]

The Church's Purpose is to be God's representative figure here on this earth; to bring the Good News of salvation to the lost; to heal the sick and to set the captives free from the bondage of the evil one; and to reestablish the Kingdom of God. [II Cor. 5:18-20; Acts 1:8; Matt. 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-18; Luke 11:1-4]

The Church, Israel and the End Times. We, the Church, owe a great debt of love to the nation of Israel and the Jewish people. It was out of their seed that the world gained the Messiah, Jesus Christ. We recognize Jesus Christ as the Jewish Messiah who came to save His own first. Though Israel as a nation and people rejected Him, there was still a Jewish remnant that did accept Him as their Lord and Savior. They became the first Christian Church. God has never stopped loving Israel nor has He taken them out of His eternal plan. [Romans 1:16; Romans 2:9,10; Romans 11:11,25-28]

Word of Life Ministries is a growing family of believers co-laboring together. We have the common goal to advance the Kingdom of God in our local region as well as throughout the world.

God has a unique purpose and plan for every individual He created. He knows the neighborhood you will live in; the lives you will impact; and exactly what goals you are to fulfill with the gifts He has given you. As the Head of the Church, Jesus has a purpose for every church, as unique as His plan for each individual.

How does He accomplish His purpose? God gives His church a vision. The Purpose is God’s will for that church. The Vision is the means by which He chooses to bring it to pass. In 1983, God gave us a vision and from it, Word of Life Ministries was birthed.

Our vision is to be an end-time church: A church that replicates the first church described in the Book of Acts. It is a church that emphasizes the development of strong relationships among believers; a church that draws others into the family of God through inspired preaching, Bible study, home fellowship and evangelism. It is a church that grows daily both spiritually and numerically because the life and love of Jesus Christ flow in its midst (Acts 2:14-47; Eph. 4:1-16) We believe that Jesus Christ will soon return to claim the kind of church we have described.

As overseers of Word Of Life World Outreach and its family of churches, we pray that this purpose and vision will be an inspiration to you. Habakkuk 2:2-3 exhorts us to “write the vision and engrave it plainly upon the tablets.”
